Ruth McConnico

NEW LONDON — Graveside services for Ruth McConnico, 93, Clear Lake City, formerly of New London, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Birdston Cemetery, Streetman, under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Mrs. McConnico died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in a Clear Lake Assisted Living. She was born Oct. 3, 1916 in Streetman to the late David and Emma Harris Nettle.

She married Charlie Kit McConnico on Sept. 28, 1937 in Streetman and was a homemaker and co-owner and operator of McConnico’s High School Drug in New London. She was a member of the London Baptist Church and active in community and school during her many years in New London.

Mrs. McConnico enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and was an excellent cook. Most of all, she was a devoted mother and loving grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charlie McConnico, Jan. 3, 1999; as well as her 12 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her three sons, her daughter and their families: Kit McConnico, Hurst; Ken and Marjorie McConnico, Seabrook; Steve and Leslie McConnico, Austin; Kathy and Rocky Stickel, Pacific Palisades, Calif.; grandchildren, Deena Moana and Dyan Chappell, North Richland Hills; Kate McConnico, Houston; Claire Theodore, Venice, Calif.; Kit and Callie McConnico, Austin; Andrew McConnico, Philadelphia, Penn.; David Stickel, Los Angeles, Calif.; Emma Stickel, San Francisco, Calif.; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
